SAM Mouldings Announced on Shortlist For Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2008

Richard Holmes - Business Improvement Manager and Joanne Rugman - Management Accountant
SAM Mouldings have been short listed in four categories of the Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2008 (MX Awards). These awards were established in 1981 by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) with the aims of protecting manufacturing and promoting best practice. Previous winners include Ford and Land Rover.
Assessors claim that this year has seen the highest standard of entries ever. There is strong competition for each of the categories, and SAM Mouldings are short listed with companies such as Astrium, Rolls Royce and Perkins.
Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya, patron of the MX Awards, says:
‘‘the global competitiveness of UK manufacturing companies is vital to the economic success of our country so I am delighted to support MX which celebrates the best in industry. The twenty short listed firms are the best in UK business.’’
SAM Mouldings have been short listed in the following four categories:
- PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for Customer Focus
- Professional Engineering Award for People Effectiveness
- IMechE Award for Financial Management
- Arup Award for Sustainable Manufacturing
The SAM Mouldings entry has been led by Management Accountant, Joanne Rugman, who commented :
“This is the first year that SAM Mouldings has entered MX Awards and it is a true testament to our commitment towards achieving business excellence that we have been short-listed among such an impressive list of high-caliber companies.”
Richard Holmes, Business Improvement Manager, is also delighted at SAM Mouldings involvement in the awards, and stated :
“Now established as market leaders in our sector, the awards underline the company’s commitment to ensuring excellence for our customers, people, suppliers and support organisations alike.”
MX judges from the Government’s Manufactory Advisory Service, Pricewater Coopers and Warwick Manufacturing Group will assess SAM Mouldings in April before announcing the winners at an awards ceremony in London in June.
