Top Enviromental Finish For SAM
SAM Mouldings has once again been recognised for its continual improvement of environmental policies and procedures throughout the company and the direct impact it has on the community. SAM was nominated as a finalist for the Environmental Achievement category at the 2008 TTJ Awards, held at the Park Lane Hotel in London on the 18th September for the introduction of a combined heat and power (CHP) system within the factory. This was a great achievement for SAM Mouldings, as out of a large contingent of candidates that submitted interest in being considered for this particular area, only 3 were shortlisted and were therefore eligible to claim the final award.
Martin Ricker, Commercial Manager of Advertising at TTJ Magazine, commented on the difficulty of reaching the finalist stage of any of the judged awards on offer, stating that for a company to be shortlisted, they must impress a panel of individuals, including a member of the TTJ Magazine committee, a representative of the main sponsor and also a number of experts in the given field of the award.
Mark Kirkpatrick, Operations Controller at SAM Mouldings, commented on the achievement; “We are always looking at ways of improving the company’s impact on the environment and awareness among the workforce, and this recognition is a reflection of a lot of hard work and investment. The new CHP system is yet another unique distinction that sets SAM apart from the competition, whilst helping the company solidify its position as the UK’s leading MDF manufacturer.”
